Looking for the Coolest Summer Job?

MYC is seeking employees for Race Committee, Pontoon Shuttle Drivers, and Event Staff for the 2022 season! Interested in working on the water or on an island with a flexible schedule, then we've come to the right place.

Race Committee - Want a cool summer job on Lake Minnetonka?

The Minnetonka Yacht Club is looking for help in running sailing races this summer. If you already have sailing or boating experience, that’s awesome, but we can use your help even if your experience is zero! Training is a big part of the program. We are offering part-time paid positions all summer. The club runs weekday races on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, with staff needed typically between about 4:30pm and 8:30pm. On weekends, we run morning races on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30am to 1:00pm. The season runs till late-September, but even if you are just looking for a fun summer job, and even if you only have a day or two available each week, we still can use your help! Likewise... if you are flexible, we may be able to schedule you as many as 4 or 5 days a week.

There may not be a better job or more fun way to spend part of your summer working on the lake, and actually get paid for it!

The race schedule is simpler and shorter in the spring and fall than the “regular” week races mid-summer. The first races begin on Tuesday, May 17th, and the final races are Saturday Sept 24th.

Please contact Minnetonka Yacht Club Race Manager Blake Middleton at myc@aol.com.

Pontoon Shuttle Drivers - Yes, you get to drive a boat all summer.

As our primary events and racing require access to Bug Island and Lighthouse Island, we are looking for pontoon shuttle drivers to join our staff for the 2022 summer season. We start as early as mid-May (ice dependent) and shuttle through the first week of October (weather dependent). Weekday shifts run from 3:30/4PM - 30 minutes past sunset. Several weekend shifts span from 7:30AM - 30 minutes past sunset or 11:30PM during select special events.

Previous experience driving a pontoon or boat are preferred. Kind, well-natured, responsible, polite individuals that enjoy interacting with members and can handle super busy and activity are encouraged to apply. This position is responsible for the safe transportation of members and their guests, but also enforcing pontoon rules and miscellaneous tasks. Please reach out to Gretchen at director@minnetonkayachtclub.org if interested.

Island Event Staff - Yes, you get to be at all the best events on an island.

Minnetonka Yacht Club has a robust social schedule for our sailing and social members and we are looking for outgoing, think-on-their-feet, organized individuals that would love to be a part of a fun, tight knit group that all helps each other out when needed. Staff responsibilities include setting up and taking down tables and chairs at events, checking-in members and their guests, keeping the island tidy, selling merchandise, and answering any member questions. You must like interacting with people or this job is not for you! Our typical attendance ranges from 10 - 200 people, with larger events with upwards of 400 attendees. Events are held every Wednesday from Memorial to Labor Day, select Friday and Saturday evenings, and a huge regatta September 8 - 11th. There will be a few late September/early October events as well. Please reach out to Gretchen at director@minnetonkayachtclub.org if interested.
