MYC Weekly COVID-19 Update 6/26

Thank you for your continued patience as we develop a back-to-racing plan for MYC. On June 27-28 MYC will continue to run practice races, but boats will be allowed to have non-household crew. Starting next weekend, July 4, we will resume racing with required waiver and crew roster. This opening up of racing depends on your continued adherence to the COVID-19 related guidelines as listed in the details below. Prior to sailing:

  • Waiver: All sailing participants MUST sign the Sailing Waiver prior to racing 10AM July 4th, this will be emailed out shortly and posted on our website.

  • Roster: Skippers are REQUIRED to register their crew with MYC by submitting skipper and crew names to communications@minnetonkayachtclub.org prior to 10AM July 4 or you will not be scored for any races. This is for contact tracing purposes. Suggest listing all those who might be sailing with you this season.

  • MYC COVID-19 Plan: Please review the full responsibility of sailors in the 2020 MYC COVID-19 Preparedness Plan HERE, compliance with the plan will be expected of every member and guest.

  • Sailing and the responsibility of safety is at the discretion of each individual.

  • Sailors are required to wear a face covering on the pontoon and in situations where 6 feet of social distancing is not possible.

  • Physical distancing must to be maintained on the MYC grounds, minimizing congregation.

  • It is strongly recommended that sailors in mixed-household crews wear face covering while sailing.

  • The RC will continue to operate in a modified fashion to minimize staffing needs and maximize sailor and staff safety. See SI Amendments HERE.

  • Extra safety precautions will continue, including wearing of PFDs, use of float panels, reduced wind maximums and a conservative monitoring of weather conditions.

  • Boats are strongly recommended to keep a minimum of 6 feet of separation while on the water.

  • The schedule is being updated to account for the shortened season and the cancellation of the Inter-lakes Regatta.

  • As of July 4, fleet start times will be staggered slightly to ease the congestion on and off Bug Island. Three groups of starts set 15 min apart. The last fleet would only start about 15-20 minutes later than normal.

Weekend Racing 10:00am X-Boats & Open 10:15am MC, C Scow, Yngling 10:30am E Scow and Cats Wednesday Racing 6:15pm X-Boats & Open 6:30pm MC, C Scow, Yngling 6:45pm E Scow and Cats As currently stands, the A Scow fleet will not sail this season. Safety Boats: We’d love more safety boats out on the water. If you’d like to help out, please fly your burgee and check in with the RC on VHF Ch 72 Arrive Early! There may be some congestion on the pontoon service to Bug Island, please allow more time to get out to your boat
