Sailing Instruction Updates for Racing 6/6 - 6/7
With racing beginning this weekend, Saturday, June 6 @ 10AM and Sunday, June 7 @ 10AM, we have made some modifications to the SIs due to safe considerations for households and single-handed sailors this weekend. You can find the SIs and Amendments here. We ask that you review these updates carefully!
Also please be aware of the following reminders:
Racing will not count towards traditional MYC race series until further notice. We are working on some creative awards☺
Simplified racing for households and single-handed boats.
No points towards regular season races.
Due to current regulations, youth competitions are not allowed, so single-handed boats must be skippered by individuals 18 years old and older. If these regulations change before Saturday, June 6, we will let you know ASAP! We do invite our youth sailors to get out and sail around on their boat.
We appreciate your patience as Race Committee will also be performing under COVID-19 restrictions. While we usually get hands down, incredible race management, please be flexible and patience as this style of racing and race management is different for all of us!
We are asking for a handful of safety boats to be out on the course Saturday and Sunday. What does this entail? A boat flying the MYC burgee that could assist a sailboat if an unsafe situation/accident occurs.
As we continue to manage races safely with both modified sailing teams and race management crew, please understand that we are making decisions out of safety for all, not safety for some. This includes wind speeds where some race days that would have been raced with great success in any past year, may not be attempted this season due to safety for all. Again, we appreciate your understanding as we sail forward into the season.
