This Wednesday MYC will host the final Grill & Chill of 2010! There won't be any racing before, just a fun evening of socializing, great food and a beautiful sunset. Connie and friends will be serving: Slow Roasted Beef Brisket; Grilled Chicken with Barbeque Sauce; Roasted Potatoes with Herbs and Olive Oil; Garden Salad with Apples and Blue Cheese; Green Peas; and Bananas Foster – Flambéed at the Grill.

Labor Day Picnic

MYC will be hosting the annual Labor Day picnic on Monday, September 6th around noon on LHI. We will have a great picnic lunch, followed by the 2010 awards celebration for the Opti, X and Laser fleets. Connie and friends will be serving:

Nathan’s Famous ¼ Hot Dog (huge) with toppings to add

Old Fashion Picnic Sunday, September 12th

The Classic Fleet will host the first annual MYC POSH Picnic on September 12th at 1 PM on Lighthouse Island. Music will be provided by Steve Clark and Working Stiffs. Find your hats, long lace dresses and spats. Wooden Boat story tellers are welcome and will be recorded. Menu, costs, parade details, and other details of this historic and hopefully annual social event will follow. But please save the date for this wooden boat rendezvous.

Youth Championship

The ILYA's 15th Annual Youth (26 years old or under) Championship was held on Lake Calhoun this past weekend. There were 28 competitors in the Club 420 fleet (trapeze and spinnaker). This was the largest Club 420 fleet that has ever sailed in the ILYA Championships. The Race Committee was headed by the amazing Tom Hodgson with Peter Wattson lending his expertise. Seven trapezoid courses were completed in fairly consistent 8-11 mph breeze over the two days. The field was littered with past ILYA Opti and X boat champions. Fall Color Series Starting Order

To facilitate smooth race management with back-to-back races during the 2009 Fall Color Series in September, we're going to try something new with the start order. For the first race of each Fall Color Saturday (1st race only), we'll set up a pursuit start, with the open class and class X starting first, and the E scows last. This will work exactly like we do it on Wednesday nights, so it should be easy to figure out.
