This Wednesday MYC will host the final Grill & Chill of 2010! There won't be any racing before, just a fun evening of socializing, great food and a beautiful sunset. Saturday, August 28th we will be hosting the annual Burton Cup/MS Cup Race at 10:00 in the morning, followed by the awesome Burton Cup/MS Cup Corn Roast at 6:00 that evening. Please join us on LHI for a full night of fun and festivities. Tim Mahoney will be playing! There will be a live auction. Out Guest Speaker is Lori Schneider from Bayfield. Lori has MS and she climbed Mt. Everest last year, completing the 7 summits (the tallest peaks on each continent). The C Fleet and the Open Fleet will be serving: Roasted Corn on the Cob; Melted Butter; Country Red Potato Salad; (Five Bean Salad-Vegetarians) Garden fresh sliced Tomatoes; Balsamic, Olive Oil, Basil & Parmesan; Iowa Pork Chops; Apple Sauce - BBQ Sauce; Fresh Dinner Rolls & Butter; Ice Cream Sundaes; Chocolate – Caramel – Strawberry; Root Beer Kegs & Beer.

It's time to start to think about the Burton Cup/MS Cup race which will be held on Saturday, August 28th. Blake's event web page is: http://www.mscup.org There is a donations link on that page for direct secure online donations to the National MS Society. Last years winners, please return your engraved MS Cup trophy plaques to CBF or drop them off at WYC. So get your crew lined up and plan on racing!

The Yngling fleet is hosting a DOWN EAST LOBSTER FEAST On Saturday August 21st at 7 PM. The LOBSTER BOIL will be outside at Kingston Fletchers Sun Set Point home. (Across the channel from LHI.) The feast is open to all MYC members, friends and crew of the Yngling fleet. Cost is $ 30.00 per person…. if you want a second lobster add $13.00 Menu… 1 ½ lb. Commodore's Note on Labor Day & the Youth Awards 09/03/09 08:57am
The Labor Day party is fast approaching, and the summers sailing season is nearing its end. Now is the time to focus some attention on the youth of our club. We have a fabulous history of recognizing our youth programs and the many accomplishments of our kids. This year is no exception. I would encourage those who attend the Labor Day party to stay for the award ceremony. This year the awards program should be exceptional, I know the parent volunteers have been planning lots of interesting and novel ways to ward the trophies and keep the adults entertained during the awards presentation. There is no better way to show your support for our youth programs than to be involved and present at the youth awards. I look forward to seeing you at the awards programs and out on the water for the last few races.

Historic Lake Minnetonka Presentation 08/03/09 02:11pm
Next Wednesday, August 5, the A fleet will be hosting the MYC Grill & Chill plus Stephanie Larsen and Nancy P Steinke will present an informational program on their new book Historic Lake Minnetonka - Navigate LM and Discover Its Rich History an Essential Boaters' Guide. This unique spiral bound book is written for on-the-water identification of Lake bays, historic sites and structures as well as some personalities. The authors spent over five years researching printed materials and interviewing Lake families, credits which are noted on the first page. MYC sailor Jim Wyer provided his photo collection for their use and reviewed the book several times. Stephanie and Nancy will talk about the reasons for and the process of writing the book, the people they met and the response to the book. They mention the inconsistencies in documented Lake Minnetonka history and welcome your comments and additional information. The book will be available for sale and autographing. The authors will donate 20% of the cost of each book sold that night to the Minnetonka Yacht Club.

We will be hosting the M-17 Inlands Regatta this week. The boats will be arriving on Friday and the racing will be Saturday and Sunday. The parking lot at Carson's Bay will be closed Friday (7/24) and Sunday (7/26).

The joint MYC Summer Party and C Invite Party will be Saturday, July 18th on LHI at 6:30pm. We have a wonderful event planned with three different dinner stations, catered by the amazing Connie Blanchard. Costs are $25 with reservations and $30 without reservations. Station 1: Grilled pork tenderloins skewers, roasted red potatoes, green beans with garlic sauce and crusty bread. Station 2: Grilled chicken enchilada sauce, refried beans, tomatoes, cheese, olives, lettuce, chips, sour cream and guacamole. Station 3: Farfelle pasta with two sauces, marinara sauce and beef meatballs, pasta with alfredo and broccoli plus garden salad. Free Allen bar will be offered as a hosted beverage to guests 21 years or older.

Here are the Sailing Instructions for the ADA regatta this weekend. This impacts the club racing courses on June 13-14, so it is highly recommended this be reviewed even if you are not participating in the ADA Regatta.
If you are interested in joining the ADA regatta, MYC members can participate for $20 using the following link. The races overlap with both the club and ADA races and will count towards both events.

Bug Lift-Out and LHI Closing 10/03/08 10:46am
Bug Island Lift-Out and Light House Island Close-Up day is Saturday, October 11 at 9:00 a.m. Bring gloves, wet suits or waders (if you have 'em), trimmers, wrenches, etc., to help get the club ready for winter.
We need all the volunteers we can get, to help close up Light House Island. If possible, please come out to LHI and help by taking down the posts, canopy's and the swim platform.
Bug Islander's need to help move the lifts and docks onto the island for the winter. This is our last big "push" for the year. Thanks for helping out.

You are invited to the Labor Day Picnic and Youth Awards Celebration onMonday, September 1st at noon on LHI. Connie and the Youth Fleets will be serving two different menu's. You will have your choice of menu A: grilled sirloin, vegetable & shrimp skewers, fresh tomatoes, roasted new potatoes, garlic bread, chocolate and chocolate dessert. Jeff Solum will be reminiscing and showing slides about his adventures in sailing to Norway upon the 9th century Viking ship replica "Hjemkomst" which sailed from Duluth, MN to Oslo, Norway in 1982.
